About Bakarameistarinn


Bakarameistarinn has been a leading actor in its field ever since the couple Sigþór Sigurjónsson, master baker, and Sigrún Stefánsdóttir, founded the company in January 1977. The opening of Bakarameistarinn in Suðurver was a turning point for the bakery trade in Iceland, as it introduced the people of Reykjavík to a product range and levels of service they had never experienced before. 

 

The goals of Bakarameistarinn were clear from an early stage; to be at the forefront when it came to innovative product development, offering a wide range of products, quick and easy service, professional bakers and of course using only quality ingredients to make quality products. To this day, these factors are still part of our daily operations. 


Bakarameistarinn currently operates five coffee houses in Reykjavík and one in Kópavogur. Even though our number of staff has increased from 20 in 1977 to well over 140 people, our goals are still as clear as they were on day one: We serve you!

 

Our products

 

Bakarameistarinn offers a wide range of lunch food, such as ham and cheese sandwiches, toast with creamed asparagus, ciabatta with salami, meat subs and bacon melts, noodles, pasta and soups. We make sure that our cold counter is full of healthy and tasty choices during lunch, even offering our guests to eat their food in the cozy atmosphere of our coffee houses.

 

Our catering service is also growing and offers great food and cakes for big and small parties and other occasions.

 

The coffee we serve comes from Illy and can be prepared to your taste, although we hear cappuccino and latte are a constant favorite among our customers. There is a constant stream of baked goods from our ovens throughout the day – warm cheese knots, croissants and Danishes. Our cake counter is always full of delicious cakes, tortes and pies, for those times when you need to grab something sweet last minute for that work meeting or birthday party.
